Show more Team fortress 2 is a well-polished, class-based, tactical shooter. It's fun as heck, and it's free.User Rating: 9 | Team Fortress 2 PC Team Fortress 2 is one of the best first-person, tactical shooters ever. On top of that, it's a freemium game. However, this game is different from other freemium games. Most freemium games give you limited content from the game, and makes you pay for the rest of it. Team Fortress 2 does this differently. It gives you the entire game, except for some hats your characters can wear, for free. The hats have no effect on the gameplay at all. You get everything that matters for free. Which is hard to believe considering how good this game is. Gameplay: Team Fortress 2 is like many other shooters. You have a variety of modes and maps to play on. It offers nine classes to choose from: Scout, Soldier, Pyromaniac, Demoman, Heavy Weapons Guy, Engineer, Sniper, Medic, and Spy. Each of these classes is wildly different than the last. They all play an important role on the team. If you are in a macth and a class is not being used by your team, you may want to use that class to help your team out. Also, some classes won't get as many kills as others. This is because completing objectives is much more important than kills in this game. As you play the game, you will unlock more powerful versions of your equipment for your characters. They will buff up your characters with a variety of stats. Graphics: Team Fortress 2 is a four year old game. It was also developed on the Source engine, which first debuted in 2004 with Half-Life 2. Despite being a four year old game on a seven year old engine, Team Fortress 2 still looks great. It still doesn't show signs of aging. The graphics are very cartoony, which is unusual for most shooters. Overall: Team Fortress 2 is excellent. I've yet to encounter a bug. It is very well polished, addicting, and fun. However, I can't give it a ten. It is kind of like a Team Fortress 1.5, rahter than Team Fortress 2. They added a few new modes, removed grenades, and they've done a few other small changes, but at the core, it still feels a lot like Team Fortress 1. I feel that with nine years of development time, they could've added some more custimization options or a new class or two. Also, there was no real wow factor that blew me away.Team fortress 2 age rating
97% Cooperative multiplayer horde shooters have become one of the more saturated and popular sub-genres of FPS games, arguably due to the sheer popularity of games like Left 4 Dead 2. Even without its strong community and a heap of custom content, Left 4 Dead 2 is a strong cooperative experience that tasks players with mowing through hordes of zombies in a variety of well-designed maps. Left 4 Dead 2's gameplay and progression is fairly simplistic, and for that reason, it won't be for everyone, but when played with good friends, Left 4 Dead 2 becomes a chaotic, fun-first experience. Furthermore, it's bereft of over-complicated progression systems, microtransactions, and battle passes. 6 Halo 3 - A Chaotic Arena Shooter Steam User Rating: 90% The Halo games were always a good source of multiplayer fun, though never in a competitive sense. Halo 2's multiplayer in particular is beloved by many, but Halo 3 arguably wins out with its extensive Forge mode and custom games. While Halo 3 is showing its age, and the community is nowhere near as strong as it once was, at its height, Halo 3 was one of the most fun multiplayer experiences at the time. The creativity that Halo 3's Forge mode encouraged, along with its fun-first multiplayer modes, made it a consistently enjoyable experience that wasn't weighed down by a competitive nature. Steam User Rating: 93% Against all odds, Team Fortress 2 has stood the test of time, in part thanks to its strong, tight-knit community, and its strong mechanics and accessibility. Team Fortress 2 is a class-based multiplayer FPS that offers a variety of experiences with custom games and regular multiplayer modes, and one of the oldest multiplayer FPS games to retain such a large player base. Team Fortress 2, despite its age, is still relatively fun to play. This is in large part due to its variety of well-designed classes, each of which feels distinct and offers unique challenges for players to master. 8 Quake 3 Arena - A Well-Crafted Classic Steam User Rating: 95% While some players may favor Unreal Tournament over Quake. BY THE OTHER TEAM!" -Soldier, when my team lost the battle. As a veteran of the original Team Fortress Classic mod in the first engines used in Half-Life, I was more than excited to hear a sequel in development. There was something to team fortress that really made it stick out as a competitive online shooter. Something unique. Something that's usually tossed aside by other games in favor of useless flashy graphics and unnecessary variations of the same weapon. As you will find out when playing, it is the class system. Mainly deep balance between the classes and their abilities, which do far more impressive changes in gameplay than in other class-based games like Modern Warfare and the like. Team Fortress 2, like Team Fortress Classic, emphasizes the difference not only with different equipment, but with different abilities, ranging from running faster, taking more damage and surviving, healing, and even disguising yourself as the other team. The changes are even more drastic in Team Fortress 2, and some things have been removed (namely, class-based grenades), but for a good purpose, and the game has never been better. Each class, now more than just a soldier, represents a person from somewhere all over the globe. Not only does a country of origin add to the character and bring them to life, but with the addition of the source engine and TF2's Pixar-esque art style, the characters all seem like living, breathing 3D cartoon characters, each with their own hysterical lines of dialogue, facial expressions, and taunt moves. In addition to the already fantastic design, the characters all have unique personalities and characteristics, as well as great voice actors to back them up, and make the game much more fun when ranting to your teammates via the shout-out commands or insulting the other team, and even the battlecry. The game's theme also presents an interesting concept to the red vs blue world that is TF2; all Capture the Flag/Intelligence are symmetrical on each team's side per map, except for one thing; one team has a high-tech base with steel walls, the other has a wooden barn with hay as a floor. Not that it has any role to play in gameplay; it's just fun to consider an army of farm-boys and pyro (presumably a girl by many fans) taking on a government military base of operations. The actual gameplay focuses on class, and boy are they different. There are nine classes in the game. The first, Scout; a very,Team Fortress 2 - Rating and User Reviews

After 7 Years, Team Fortress 2 Finally Dropped its Last Comic & Brought the Game to an End Games Sign in to your CBR account The following contains spoilers for Team Fortress Comics Issue #7: The Days Have Worn Away. Proceed with caution. Shortly after it went live in 2007, Team Fortress 2 branched out into webcomics. What started out as quick and silly promotional tie-ins for the watershed hero shooter game's seasonal updates evolved into an ambitious and full-blown story arc. Beginning with "Ring of Fired" in 2013, this seven-part event boasted the kind of deeper characterization, expanded worldbuilding and larger-than-life stakes that Team Fortress 2 players had never seen before. Fans loved these comics, and Valve promised to release new issues every few months. But by 2015, the comic slowed to a crawl before it quietly stopped and went dormant in 2017. For the next seven years, Valve said nothing about the comics' status, plus that of Team Fortress 2 and pretty much anything else they worked on. Frustrated fans gave up on the comics and Team Fortress 2 but, to everyone's surprise, Valve finally fixed the game and dropped the final issue in 2024. As expected, the comic wrapped up the story, but it went a step further by also effectively ending Team Fortress 2 and giving the mercenaries a fond farewell. Team Fortress 2 Comics Issue #7 Can Be Read as the Game's Official Ending The Comic Brought the Characters' Stories to a Close The most surprising and important thing about Issue #7, "The Days Have Worn Away," was how sincerely sentimental it was. Naturally, it was still filled with the game's signature absurdist humor and slapstick violence. The comic was also loaded with nostalgic callbacks to previous issues, and older bits of the game's lore. Those who have played the game since the days of The Orange Box or when it first went free-to-play will giggle and get misty-eyed flipping through the comic's pages. However, Issue #7 was also a more somber and melancholic conclusion than expected. Given Team Fortress 2's inherent madness and mockery of real-world logic, this was surprising, but wholly welcome. Not only did it open with a dedication to the late great Rick May, Soldier's voice actor, but the comic had the mercenaries grapple with the fact that the sun was setting on them. In retrospect, the series as a whole could now be read as a meditation on war's pointlessness and mortality. Besides learning that they were disposable pawns and TF Industries' laughingstock, Team Fortress (basically Red Team) discovered that the wars they fought were all pointless and in service of The Administrator's century-long grudge. To add insult to injury,Comments
